Boosting Confidence and Building Careers: Liz Collier-Harrison at Women in Technology York
Last month, Liz Collier-Harrison, Head of Delivery here at FXC Intelligence, took the stage in York for a Women in Technology event, where Aviva CIO Women’s Network teamed up with Reed Women in Technology Community.

With over 50 women and allies from the tech world in attendance, Liz joined a panel with Louise Morgan, Head of Data & BI for LNER, and Debbie Stott, Group Chief Architect for Aviva, to discuss how to boost your career by getting more confident, grabbing opportunities and building your personal brand. She mentioned that it was awesome to share stories that resonated with so many women, no matter where they are in their careers.
Liz’s top tips and learnings include:
- Get a mentor!
- Make time for what's important to you – it can really help your work performance (and apparently, the panellists all turn into monsters if they don't get to exercise!)
- You can’t always give 100% throughout your career, and that is totally fine
- Focus on the end results
This event provided a great opportunity for women in tech to network, connect, find mentors and support each other, whilst letting women share their stories, challenges and successes, showing others what is possible. It was also a chance for education, helping allies understand the challenges women in tech face, how to be better allies and how women can support other women.
