Day in the Life of a Data Engineer at FXC
This week, I spoke with Konstantin Mogilevskii, a Senior Data Engineer at FXC, to learn about a typical day in his life.

Tell us about your journey at FXC so far?
I joined FXC as a Data Engineer, initially focusing on maintaining and developing our ETL pipelines. Over time, my role has evolved, and I’ve had the opportunity to dive deeper into infrastructure and DevOps work. Recently, I’ve been closely involved in our migration from on-prem to AWS, which has been both challenging and rewarding.
Describe your typical workday?
Lately, a big part of my day is also dedicated to working on AWS infrastructure, managing resources via Terraform and ensuring a smooth migration of services. Additionally, I'm still responsible for ETL that were developed by me, so I spend some time on them as well.
Which of your responsibilities has the biggest impact for FXC as a company?
Maintaining the integrity and reliability of our data pipelines has a direct impact on the business. Additionally, contributing to the AWS migration sets us up for long-term scalability and cost-efficiency.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Seeing the systems I’ve helped build run successfully in production and knowing that they support critical business operations is extremely rewarding.
Also, as a Consultant at FXC, I have flexibility in the hours I work. As long as I am present for team meetings, I can go to the gym in the afternoon and make up the hours in the evening. It’s great that I can fit my work in around my life
What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role?
Balancing between keeping the current systems running smoothly and pushing forward with new initiatives can be a challenge.
What’s a moment you are particularly proud of at FXC?
I’m particularly proud of the work I’ve done during the AWS migration project. It’s been a great opportunity to expand my DevOps skill set, contribute to a major initiative within the company and be part of a transformation that will benefit the entire tech team and business in the long run.
