


Get to know the Technology Team at FXC: Part 2
In part one of this blog series, you will have read about the structure of the tech team and the tools we use. Now, find out more about what makes us special!
What makes us special?
- We are small enough for you to know the names of all the people in the company, yet we provide services for the biggest and most recognised companies and organisations in the world
- We perform regular code refactoring, therefore no part of our codebase is older than 3-4 years
- We continuously innovate and experiment: training our own AI models, using new tools, partnering with other organisations, investigating new solutions
- We never impose unrealistic expectations or deadlines on our engineers
- “Continuing to be a great place to work” is one of three company goals and we take it very seriously
That’s not all!
- We do annual rate and salary reviews
- We support career paths and career progression for every person by actively creating opportunities to cross-skill, learn, stretch yourself, take on challenges and experiments or pursue line management (so far each year 10-20% of people got promotions; we have also had successful transitions between disciplines and teams)

Sounds too good to be true? We aren’t THAT perfect:
- Cross-border payments are a complex industry with specific subject matter vocabulary. It takes time to wrap your head around it and may be overwhelming at the beginning (don’t worry too much though – your manager will offer help and we also have internal training sessions and knowledge sharing. Our Content team writes the best newsletter in the industry!)
- We foster a culture of teamwork and accountability, supporting each other every step of the way
- Our process of maturing from a startup into a mature organisation is still in progress. Some of our processes are informal, not all of our codebase is well documented and not all documentation is up to date
- Working in a remote-first environment with diverse colleagues requires empathy, considerate communication and verification of assumptions and biases
