People, not bots: How we keep our hiring human-centric
It’s no secret that AI is rapidly changing the recruitment world, but at FXC Intelligence, we are committed to keeping our hiring processes human-centric. While we are enthusiastic about the use of AI tools and value candidates with experience or interest in AI technologies, we also acknowledge that AI can impact the human experience and it isn’t always appropriate.
We ensure that every application we get is personally reviewed by a human. This may take more time than if we were to utilise AI, however, we believe this is only fair. If we were to use AI for screening, we’d risk:
- Increased bias
- Reduced transparency for candidates
- Overreliance on keyword matching, which can miss important context
All live interviews at FXC are conducted by humans, with no AI-led scoring or automated rejections based solely on AI outputs – a human makes every hiring decision.
How do we use AI
If you join an interview with the team at FXC Intelligence, you will see “CoPilot” joining the session also. This tool is used by the interviewers to transcribe the session and capture answers, but does not evaluate responses or assign scores. This is always sense-checked by the interviewers to ensure that it’s captured correctly and never answers anything that requires human thinking (e.g. “did this person have good communication skills?”).
This is a valuable tool as it allows interviewers to fully engage in the conversation without having to worry about taking notes, as well as ensuring information isn’t lost throughout the process.
We recognise that humans aren’t perfect either, but we work continuously to reduce bias, whether it be company-wide DEI training, unconscious bias training for interviewers or pre-determined interview questions.
We are committed to GDPR and ethical AI use, and vet our suppliers for responsible AI principles. All data collected by AI is protected by this, as outlined in our privacy policy.
At FXC, we regularly review our tools and processes, as they are continuously evolving to provide both the best candidate experience possible and to fairly and effectively assess candidates.
