Taste the world: Celebrating Diversity Month through international cuisine at FXC
April is Diversity Month, a time to recognise and celebrate the diversity all around us, which is certainly something FXC Intelligence does. For this month, we hosted our very own International Food Day in the London office.
Many of us spent the evening before mixing, whisking, chopping, layering our ingredients to put together an array of dishes representing different countries and cultures (or paid our sister to… which I would never do…).
With the office decorated with world flags, we enjoyed Russian New Year salad, sour and spicy noodles, haggis pasties, croquettes, samosas and more, listening to how these dishes were made, why people made them and just tucking in.
But that wasn’t all, we of course had to leave space for the sweet treats, including Victoria sponge, apple samosas, scones and possibly the best tiramisu I have ever eaten.
With our stomachs full, I think we would all agree that FXC’s International Food Day was a success, but we need to remember what it is we are celebrating. Diversity is important to us here at FXC Intelligence because we know that having a diverse workforce ensures different perspectives, mindsets and ideas, all of which can support our business growth.
With our first DEI survey being conducted in 2023, we have a lot to celebrate. We learnt that our team speaks over 15 languages fluently, 30% of us are part of the LGBTQIA+ community and that everyone feels that FXC Intelligence is an inclusive place to work. Additionally, our survey has helped us identify areas for growth and improvement and we look forward to carrying out the next survey in Q3 to learn more.
It’s been almost a year since I joined FXC Intelligence and I have been continuously impressed with the efforts around diversity and inclusion, with unconscious bias interview training being carried out by yours truly, the inception of the LGBTQIA+ and Women In FinTech employee networks and the culture of feedback.
