Achieve your personal development goals with FXC
Companies often throw around buzzwords like “development”, “training” and “progression”. Unfortunately, not all of them actually do the work to give employees what they need to achieve their goals.
That’s where FXC is striving to be different. The company doesn’t just give employees opportunities, coaching and a generous budget to grow in the right direction, but also the time and flexibility they need to do it too.
With that in mind, here are some of the ways that FXC can help you achieve your personal development goals.
One-to-ones that work
One-to-ones can be a bit of a tightrope walk. Make them too casual and they can be unproductive, with any takeaways easily forgotten. Make them too regimented and employees don’t feel empowered to speak their mind or strike out in new directions.
At FXC, we thread the needle with our one-to-ones, ensuring that whenever you come together with your manager it feels meaningful and benefits both sides.
Conversations are powered by our people management platform, which allows you and your manager to take notes, pitch specific talking points for each meeting, add new goals and track progress on existing ones.
With our one-to-one system, you are encouraged to not only set objectives but also feel motivated and have the tools at your disposal to get to the next step.
Your own personal training budget
As an FXC employee, you have access to up to $1,200 (or your currency equivalent) per calendar year that you can spend on personal training and development.
What you choose to spend this money on is up to you. It can be an online or in-person course or something a bit more bespoke – as long as it’s helping you progress and going to be useful for your current role, FXC is happy to help!
For example, to bolster my skills as a content writer I wanted to complete a specific module as part of a wider journalism diploma. After talking it through with my manager, FXC has paid for me to complete this module – and I’m already seeing the benefits of this when putting together some content for FXC’s industry-leading newsletter.
Company-wide training and dedicated learning time
Alongside your own personal development budget, FXC also has a set period of time each week to hold helpful, company-wide training sessions.
These tend to cover topics that should be beneficial to all teams or employees at the company, from helpful industry review sessions to best practices for organisations and tools used by the company.
Whenever these sessions aren’t being held, you get to spend this time working towards your personal development goal. It’s just another way to make sure everyone is taking the time they need to make progress towards whatever it is they want to work on.
Coaching in professional development and wellbeing
Though one-to-ones with your manager are vital, sometimes you want an additional layer of objectivity. That’s why, once a quarter, FXC invites employees to book a session with an external coach, giving you another voice to help drive you in the right direction.
If you want to speak to someone about your mental health, you can book in a regular chat with our wellbeing specialist. Or, if you need career guidance, our executive and professional development coach can help you build confidence in areas where you want to improve (e.g. speaking publicly or in meetings, time management).
Conversations with both coaches are completely anonymous, meaning you can have a free discussion without worrying about any additional scrutiny.
Encouraging employees to move into new areas
As FXC grows and we keep delivering bigger and better projects, we need good people to fill the gaps – sometimes, the right people can come from within.
As well as promoting roles externally, we’ll sometimes open up roles internally, which not only helps us ride the coattails of existing employees’ awesomeness, but help them develop in new and exciting ways as well. Even if they aren’t quite ready to take on a role in a different department, we can sometimes help provide them with the tools and experience they need to get there.
Yes, there’s an elephant in the room with all of this: FXC wants the kind of employees that really want to push the envelope and take their own development seriously, because studies bear out that these employees tend to get the best results and stick around longer.
But that’s also exactly why we’re so focused on getting personal development right. We want to help our employees grow, from training budgets to wellness sessions, to coaching our managers on how to get the best out of each individual employee.
With FXC, the opportunities to grow are endless. If you’re looking to take the next step in your career, check out our job opportunities page and start your personal development journey today.
