Four years down – Why is FXC still the place for me?
Technical Product Manager, Anastasia Gordeeva explains why she plans on remaining part of the FXC team, even after four years with the business.
I joined FXC Intelligence four years ago, when the number of employees could almost have been counted on one hand. Several years later, we are approaching a triple-digit headcount and have two major offices, with a couple of additional regional hubs.
Throughout these years, I have stayed with the company and seen how its values propelled this sustainable and ongoing growth. So what does FXC do right and why am I keen to stay as a part of the team for many more years? Here are three reasons why I’m still at the company.
Data-driven feedback, training and support
First of all, FXC is a company that puts data – its main product – at the cornerstone of all decisions. It is reflected, of course, in serious attention to the quality and efficiency of product development, but also in other business processes, including professional growth and training.
There is a culture of ongoing feedback back and forth between line managers and analysts, between colleagues and teammates. The HR team organises regular anonymous health-check surveys and results are openly discussed at quarterly meetings.
Moreover, there is even an occasional catch up with the company's CEO and Founder, who every employee has a direct line of access to.
A diverse team in which everyone is valued
Secondly, the measured pace of company growth over time means that it attracts and retains people that match company values and spirit, while coming from diverse nations and communities.
Overall, company culture can be described as highly egalitarian, and capable employees are encouraged to take ownership over the projects they are interested in early. It is not unheard of for people to be promoted into management roles 1-2 years after being hired for a Data or Research Analyst position.
As a woman working in tech, there are also a number of fantastic role models in the company’s tech leadership that make sure the Technology department stays a safe and inclusive place for all. Contract Technology workers are valued and retained, with the majority staying with the company year after year and fostering a productive and friendly relationship with permanent employees.
Engaging projects that help you advance in your career
Thirdly, and most importantly, FXC Intelligence is a genuinely intellectually stimulating environment. There are always new projects rolling in, new tech stacks and new proof-of-concept exercises. It leaves you no space to stew in your own juices and encourages you to learn and to ask for mentoring support from more experienced teammates.
Paired with formal training opportunities (including leadership/management training) provided by the HR team, it gives you a sense of developing your own potential and advancing as a technology professional.
Since FXC positions itself as a data/tech company, even non-technical joiners can easily manoeuvre into a technical role provided they are showing interest in coding or data science. I myself have spent a lot of time consulting and supporting other employees about technical training options and pathways that they might have an affinity for.
In conclusion, I have chosen FXC because it enables me to develop as a technical professional in a high-trust, high-transparency environment. I have met some truly fantastic people here who have been and continue to be a source of inspiration and growth. It is a place where you can get involved from day one and receive hands-on experience in building data products, while acquiring valuable technical skills.
