At FXC Intelligence, fostering a sense of community is at the heart of our culture.

Our recent company bake-off themed social brought together team members from all departments for an evening filled with delicious treats, friendly competition, and lots of laughter.

Following our in-person company meeting, the team headed to Jenius Social where we were greeted by a welcome drink with a bubbly atmosphere.

Already split into teams, we had to go head to head in a bakery related quiz to decide who would come out on top with the most knowledge. The team who came first were allocated the superior baking station, with better equipment to have the natural head start.

The class began with a cocktail/mocktail making session, where we were tasked with recreating the infamous Margarita. 

Each team then split off to their stations and had 90 minutes to create 3 bakes, but there was a twist… we only had a selection of pre-weighed baking ingredients but no instructions on what to do with them.

Brownies, Cupcakes and Oat & Raisin Cookies all sound easy right? 

Wrong!

When you are presented with only the ingredients, unless you are clued up on methods of baking - it wasn’t all a walk in the park.

Our Teams

Five blended teams, all with the same goal, took to the kitchen to deliver their best bakes.

The Presentation

We were given key pointers that we had to keep in our minds whilst preparing to present our bakes to the team and judges.

Taste of the bakes, presentation of the final bakes that were given to the judges, the cleanliness of our stations at the end and how well we delivered our pitch.

Once each team had plated up their baked delights, we all took our seats to listen to the well-prepared speeches and the judges' verdicts.

There were some very interesting pitches from members of each team. We had indulgent descriptions of each item, comical takes on the baking process and even a rap which was a first for Jenius Social too!

The Judges Verdict

Whilst we all sat back and enjoyed tasting our hard work, the chefs (aka judges) went away to decide who was the overall winner.

It started to sounds like an even playing field with multiple teams taking lead in different areas, but there could only be one winner...

In first place - Bake, Don't hate     

Second place - Caterpillars

Third place - Cookies

Fourth place - Baguettes

Fifth place - Bake Me Up Before You Go-Go

Two members of the winning team were first-time bakers, so that, the creative rap that was performed for their pitch, and the great taste of their bakes, helped secure them first place!
