More than work: How our Culture Club brings us together
I’ve been at FXC Intelligence for over 1.5 years at this point and one thing I repeatedly say to friends, family, colleagues and candidates is that I love the culture here. I truly believe that FXC Intelligence has an inclusive and friendly culture that cares about my career development and wellbeing, so when I was asked to help set up an employee-led Culture Club, I jumped at the chance!
What is the Culture Club?
The FXC Intelligence Culture Club is a group of employees that meet monthly to discuss all things culture! We focus on promoting collaboration within the business, organising activities that add to our workplace culture, help welcome new starters and more. We want to ensure that morale remains high, people are happy and that we celebrate all that we achieve!
Culture has always been key at FXC Intelligence, even prior to the introduction of the Culture Club. So far this year we have had a range of fun activities and events, such as:
- Chinese New Year Celebrations in February with decorations and Chinese food.
- International Women's Day in March with a talk from Tina Cracknell, Head of Marketing at UBS Wealth Management.
- Diversity Month in April with our very own international food day, where employees brought a range of food from different cultures (read more here).
- Mental Health Awareness Week with a session from Michelle Flynn, our external Wellbeing Coach in May.
- Pride month with the talk “Pride in Data” from our own Joe Baker and cake from a queer-owned bakery (read more here).
- Diwali celebrations in the office with traditional food and decorations.
What is the aim?
The aim of the club is to build a positive workplace environment at FXC Intelligence, where our business values are shown through everyday actions.
The Culture Club has only been going for two months now but we have already had some exciting wins:
- Starting to set up a buddy scheme for new starters
- Occasional company switch-off time with online games on a Friday
- The launch of the FXC Intelligence Book Club! We will be meeting quarterly to discuss a book that we have voted on, with the first being Orbital by Samantha Harvey
I hope that if we can achieve this in just two months, by this time next year we will have introduced even more social initiatives and deeper connections between teams, with improved communication by promoting transparency, encouraging open dialogue and ensuring everyone's voice is heard. I hope we’ll help see even higher workplace morale and even more Culture Club members, whilst being deeply embedded in the company culture.
